DEPARTMENT OF COMPUTER SCIENCE

The Department of Computer Science was created from the Data Processing Organization Department
of the Institute of Organization and Management, which was established at the Faculty of Economics and
Sociology of the University of Lodz in 1971. In 1981, the Department was separated from the Institute and
transformed into the Department of Computer Science. The initiator and first Head of the Department, was Professor dr hab. Józef Szczepaniak, who had worked until 1989.

Since 1994, the Department of Computer Science has been a part of the Faculty of Management, of which it was a co-founder.

The Head of the Department in the following years until 2016 (with a break in 2004-2007) was taken over by Professor dr hab. Eng. Jerzy S. Zielinski. In the years 2004-2007, his possition was taken by dr hab. Gabriela Idzikowska, prof. of University of Lodz, who retired on October 1, 2009.

Since 2016, the Head of Department is dr hab. Anna Pamuła, prof. UŁ, who conduct our research and set Department's goals.
