Huge interest – we are building the city's identity

During the opening ceremony, the University of Lodz Vice-Rector for Student Affairs and Quality of Education, Prof. Robert Zakrzewski welcomed the gathered guests, encouraged high school graduates to visit the joint stand and choose Lodz as a place to study:

I am very pleased to be among you, look at the wide offer not only of our three universities in Lodz under the slogan "Study in Lodz", but also at what is happening around education. I am glad that as part of the Lodz Academic Partnership, our three universities work together, that the city has combined our efforts and moved “Stajnia Jednorożców” [Unicorn Stable] from Piotrkowska Street to the Faculty of Management. I encourage you to come and see what it looks like here, and then to the city centre, because the city is open to everyone who wants to study here.

Also, the Deputy Mayor of Lodz, Adam Pustelnik, encouraged the attendees to study in Lodz:

The period of studies is absolutely the best thing you can have. Not only in the sense of learning, obtaining competences and building a CV. These things are also important, but studies are about something more. It's about friendships, having fun and making the most of this once-in-a-lifetime experience. This is a time that will never come again and I hope you will be able to remember it as fondly as I do. Thus, choose wisely, choose well, choose Lodz. Have fun studying!

The official opening was also attended by the Lodz University of Technology Vice-Rector for Education, Prof. Andrzej Romanowski; the Medica University of Lodz Vice-Rector for Teaching, Prof. Tomasz Kostka, Dean of the University of Lodz Faculty of Management, Prof. Tomasz Czapla and Lodz Education Superintendent Waldemar Flajzer, who also encouraged everyone to study at universities in Lodz.

Study in Lodz – Academic Lodz at the education fair organised by Perspektywy

For the first time in history, the joint stand of the City of Lodz and its three leading public universities: University of Lodz, Medical University of Lodz and the Lodz University of Technology has been present at five editions of the Salon Maturzystów education fair.

The Lodz stand refers to the characteristic of Lodz tram stop located in the city centre and called “Stajnia Jednorożców” [Unicorn Stable]. Representatives of the universities and the city encourage students to study in Lodz, presenting the fair participants with the rich educational, cultural, tourist and economic offer of the city. The education fair also includes lectures by matura exam experts from OKE in Lodz.

The comprehensive offer of Academic Lodz was presented for the first time during the opening edition of the fair in Lublin, which was hosted by the John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin. Then the stand went to Wrocław (12-13 September, Wrocław University of Science and Technology) and Warsaw (14-15 September, Warsaw University of Technology). Now, it is in Lodz (21-22 September, University of Lodz, Faculty of Management) and finally it will be set up in Poznań (26-27 September, Poznan University of Technology).

This way, the authorities of Lodz and the three largest universities in Lodz are jointly building the identity of our city by creating a high-quality academic community and, in the future, the inhabitants of Lodz. By showing diversity, interdisciplinarity and openness, as well as undertaking joint initiatives, such as the presence of the city with key universities using one stand at the largest promotional educational event in Poland, the organisers of the "Study in Lodz" project want to increase the potential of Lodz as an academic city, which stands out from other centres.
