COORDINATOR OF THE CGMA PROGRAM AT WZ UŁ

Dr Jan Michalak has been working as an adjunct in the Department of Accountancy at the University of Lodz since 2006. His research and practical interests include: business models and their impact on management accounting, quality of information in management and financial accounting, performance measurement and reporting, financial reporting and integrated reports. He is a reviewer in the journals of the Journal of Business Models and the Zeszyty Teoretyczne Rachunkowości Rady Naukowej  SKwP. He cooperates with the Business Design Center operating at the University of Aalborg in Denmark. He lectured at the Universities of Kaunas (Lithuania), Linnaeus (Sweden), Kiel (Germany) and Aalborg (Denmark). He implemented and e-mailimplements research projects financed from EU and NCN funds.

Jan Michalak is the author or co-author of over fifty articles, including international journals and several books on accountancy. He is an experienced lecturer, trainer, controller and consultant. He worked in the following companies: BZ WBK, Bosch Siemens Hausgeraete, Strabag AG, Bauku Polska, Makolab SA. He is a co-author of implemented business concepts in the field of management accounting systems, KPI systems, multidimensional profitability reports, balanced scorecards in enterprises in the following sectors: construction, clothing, energy, automotive, research, chemical, beer, food, pharmaceutical, electronic and electrotechnical, mining, publishing, banking. He carried out the projects mentioned above among others for: Maxer, Bakalland, Jutrzenka (now Colian), PVP, Bank Spółdzielczy Rzemiosła, Koksownia Viktoria SA and its subsidiaries, PKP Energetyka SA, Namysłów Brewery, ZPW Trzuskawica, Redan, Nemak, Institute of Occupational Medicine, Partnertech, Polfa Pabianice, Voigt, PWP.

He participated in consultations on Global Management Accounting Practices developed by CIMA. In the years 2004-2013, he was a member of the team for the implementation of a management accounting system powered by ERP class software at the University of Lodz. He is the chairman of the Polish delegation in the European Accounting Association.
